4 Features of an Asian Massage Therapy Room

An Asian massage aims to provide a holistic approach to wellness, utilizing pressure points and gentle stretches to renew the body and mind. At Garden Retreat Spa, our massage therapy rooms may include features such as dim lighting, essential oils aromatherapy, and soft music to help improve your relaxation treatments. Here are four features you can find in our massage therapy rooms:

1. Dim Lighting and Aromatherapy

Soft, warm lighting is often preferred to create a calming atmosphere during an Asian massage. This may include using lamps, candles, or dimmable overhead lights in our rooms, allowing you to rest your eyes and mind during your treatment. Massage treatments also utilize essential oils or scented candles for a luxurious and relaxing touch. This aromatherapy can feature soothing scents like lavender, chamomile, or eucalyptus.

2. Soft Music and Comfortable Massage Tables

Our masseuses can play gentle, ambient music or nature sounds during a massage. This is meant to provide a soothing background soundtrack to help you unwind and focus on the massage. You can also opt for a massage without the presence of music if that is what you prefer. For specific sound or music requests, speak to your massage therapist beforehand.

We use padded and comfortable massage tables in all of our rooms, providing clean and soft linens to increase comfort. Depending on the massage type, the table may feature an adjustable headrest to allow for different positions during the massage. If scheduling a couple’s massage, two tables will be present in one of our private suites.

3. Privacy and Trained Massage Therapists

Curtains, screens, or dividers may be used to create separate areas within the room and provide a sense of comfort. Privacy during your massage is key, so we make sure that there are no interruptions or distractions during the massage. Each massage therapy room also has a well-trained massage therapist. Our massage therapists will join you in your room once you’ve settled in to begin your massage experience. They will utilize various techniques throughout your massage, such as kneading, rolling, tapping, and stretching. These movements can help release tension and reduce tight muscles.

4. Heated Elements and Soft Fabrics

Warmth can be incorporated through heated massage tables, heated blankets, or warm towels. This may help relax muscles and enhance the overall experience of your Asian massage. If you are sensitive to heat, tell your massage therapist before your appointment so we can make proper accommodations. You may also see plush cushions and soft, comfortable fabrics in our massage therapy rooms and waiting areas. They can contribute to the overall comfort of the room by creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere.
